This method is suitable for most sterling silver jewellery. If you have antique jewellery or are unsure of the type of silver you have then it is worth getting checked before proceeding or having it professionally cleaned.
You will need-
Bicarbinate of Soda (baking soda)
500ml/1pint very hot water
glass or plastic tub/dish
Aluminium Foil (kitchen foil)
1/2 teaspoon measure
1/2 tablespoon measure
kitchen towels or tea towels
Method
To Remove Light Tarnishing
Line tub with foil (shiny side up)
Sprinkle 1/2 tablespoon of bicarb or soda on to foil.
Place silver pieces on soda and foil
Pour 3/4 very hot water over and around the jewellery ensuring all silver is covered.
Let soda bubble for a few seconds. Stir around a little to ensure all silver is near soda. If needed sprinkle a little extra soda onto more tarnished areas.
After 30 seconds most of the silver will be clean and bright.
Remove from soda water and dip in clean water then dry on kitchen towel.
To Remove Stubborn Tarnished Silver
In the small plastic bowl make a paste by mixing 3 or the 1/2 teaspoons of bicarb or soda with 1x 1/2 teaspoon of warm water.
Rub the paste on the tarnished silver. You will literally see the tarnish come off. Once cleaned dip in clean water and dry thoroughly.
You can now use your silver polishing cloths included free with your Silver Spring Jewellery for a final sparkle!
