About Me

Hello,

I'm an independent silversmith. For me, silversmithing is a fresh start, it's a hobby, turned into an obsession (or a midlife crisis depending on how I feel). After working at my local Citizens Advice for several years, a move across country gave me the opportunity to make a fresh start.

I had taken few evening classes to learn the basics of making silver jewellery from The Colour Factory in Winchester. I absolutely loved it! For me it's one of those things that no matter how good (or poor) you are when you start you just need to keep on trying and you can see wonderful improvements quite quickly. I discovered that I'm quite stubborn, i just want to keep getting better and will keep trying until I get it right. I've never wanted to be good at something so badly before. This hobby has changed my life. I love the whole process and can't describe the joy I feel when I see people wearing a piece of jewellery that I have created.

I've never been particularly creative, I can't knit, sew or paint. For me, genuinely creative activities always felt like they were out of reach. Fear of failure I think. But metal work is different, it ignites something inside me. I embrace the mistakes and use them to improve. Silversmithing has given me a whole new mindset.

What started as a hobby shifted into something else when the family moved from Salisbury to the rolling hills of Rossendale. I took the opportunity to commit full time to improving my skills with a view to becoming a professional silversmith. My obsession is now my business.

My workbench is in the corner of a room surrounded by pet beds and it's my happy place, where I design and create jewellery from scratch.

One of the things I enjoy most is working with customers on bespoke and unique pieces of jewellery and sharing the whole process with them. I am committed to sustainability. I reuse and recycle everything possible to reduce the environmental impact of my work. All my packaging is recycled or recyclable and I'm currently working on a new collection made from recycled silver.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work, if you have any questions or would like to discuss a commission, please contact me at thesilverspringjewellery@gmail.com
